Our Vision
Our vision is a world where every person in rural India has access to high-quality healthcare services, regardless of their income or location. We envision a future where communities are empowered to take control of their own health, and where healthcare professionals are equipped with the skills and resources they need to provide the best possible care. Together, we will work to ensure that every person in rural India has the opportunity to live a healthy, fulfilling life.
Our journey started with our founder Dr. Pawandeep Singh encountering an eye-opening incident which he narrates as: ‘It was the month of February in the year 2020 when I came back from my routine work and was about to sleep. I received a call from our house help, Gudiya. She told, “Bhaiya I am in deep trouble; can you please lend me Rs 10,000?” They wished to shift their sister Munia to a private hospital. Her TLC count had gone to 39000. (It is serious, deadly serious). Despite my assurances, they eventually took her to a known Private hospital. The good news is that though they eventually saved life of Muniya albeit very narrowly and after spending about 1.5 lac rupees in the matter of 5 days which pushed them to deep rut of poverty.
Every year about 55 million people are pushed to poverty because of high out of pocket expenditure on healthcare. Punjab has one of the highest Out of Pocket Expenditure on health where 70 percent of rural population avails private healthcare as oppose to 58% as national average. This is not the end of the story, but rather the beginning. When I saw her reports, I was astonished to find that she was suffering from chronic liver problem and she was seeing a local pharmacist for her medications. This has further caused some damage to liver as a side effect. This points to a lack of accessibility of quality Doctors for the masses.'
-
There is shortage of 170 PHC’s in Punjab (422 instead 595)
-
Shortage of 62% staff Within existing rural healthcare infrastructure.
-
Eventually all this boils down to Low Public spending on Healthcare- just about 1% of GDP
